  • Objectives
    • Upgradation of local stock of cattle and buffaloes by Artificial Insemination using exotic and cross breed semen for cattle and Murrah semen for buffaloes.
    • Conservation and propagation of indigenous breeds of livestock in their native tracts.
    • Augmenting the production potentialities of livestock and poultry and thus increasing the production of milk, egg and meat.
    • Providing necessary and timely modern veterinary assistance and health cover to the livestock and poultry.
    • Ensuring livestock health by preventing major livestock diseases through vaccination.
    • Implementing various Central and State Government schemes for the upliftment of economic status of rural poor.
    • Protecting human health by detection and control of major zoonotic diseases of animals.
    • Creating awareness among public about modern animal husbandry practices.
    • Conducting training on basic and latest animal husbandry practices for farmers.

National Livestock Mission – Livestock Insurance Scheme

The maximum value of one cattle unit eligible for subsidy on premium is Rs.35,000/-
The number of animals insured per beneficiary / household shall not exceed fine cattle units on any account.
People below poverty line, scheduled castes & scheduled Tribes are covered at 70% subsidy.
Other communities are covered at 50% subsidy

State Fodder Development Scheme

Inter cropping coconut groves and orchards with fodder crops through the State Fodder Development Programme.
Must be a farmer with coconut grove and orchard / Fodder Crop should be maintained as an inter crop for 3 years in minimum 0.50 acre to maximum 1 hectare
Beneficiary must submit photocopy of family cared, Adhaar card, photos and savings Bank pass book

Power operated Chaff Cutter Scheme

0.25 acre of land should be covered with fodder. The farmer should own at least 2 cows or 2 Buffaloes. Photocopy of family card, Adhaar card, photos and savings Bank pass book must be submitted

National Animal Disease Control Programme Foot and Mouth Disease Control Programme

During year 2023-24 under National Animal Disease Control Programme – Foot and Mouth disease control programme scheme 1.24 Lakhs cattle are to be vaccinated Free cost of prevent Food and mouth disease

NADCP – Brucellosis Vaccination

4 Month to 8 Month age Female calves were vaccinated against Brucellosis

Specialized Veterinary Health Care and Awareness Camp

In 2023-24 80 Special veterinary health care and awareness camps are to be conducted in 4 Unions. 20 per unions each In the camps Treatment, Artificial Insemination, castration will be conducted free of cost.

LHDCP – PPR Vaccination

LHDCP-PPR – Vaccination for 4 Months old  Sheep and Goat animals is to be carried out during Year – 2023-2024
