  • Objectives

The Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine is responsible for the implementation of various National and State Health Programmes. This Department also plans and implements measures to prevent the occurrence of communicable diseases thereby reducing the burden of morbidity mortality and disability in the state.

The activities undertaken by the department of public Health and Preventive Medicine are

      • Provisions of primary health care services through Primary Health Centres
      • Maternity and Child Health Services
      • Immunization of children against vaccine preventable diseases,
      • Prevention and Control of communicable diseases
      • Prevention and control of Vector borne and Waterborne diseases
      • Prevention and control of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV / AIDS.
      • Control of Non Communicable Diseases such as Hypertension, Diabetes and Cancer
      • Elimination of Leprosy and TB
      • Implementation of Iodine deficiency disorder control programme
      • Implementation of Tobacco Control programme
      • Health check-up for 0-5 yeas children in the Anganwadi area of 6-18 years in Govt. & Govt. Aided schools.
      • Birth and death registration monitoring
      • Environmental sanitation
      • Health education of the community

Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam – MTM

AIM

    • To Screen all above 18 yrs population for non-communicable diseases (hypertension, diabetes and cancers of breast, cervix & oral) by MTM Staff Nurse at PHC level and by Mid Level Health Provider(MLHP) and WHV
    • To prevent complications of non-communicable diseases by early identification and treatment.
    • Prevent of NCD Complication by early Identification and treatment.
    • To give palliative care to bed ridden patients at home. Team of SN and physiotherapists with portable equipments will visit the bed ridden patients at home on regular intervals
    • Through Makkalai Thedi Maruthuvam program all above 45 years NCD patients who are in control will be provided drugs at home by women health volunteer.

Dr.Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme and co branded/Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)

AIM

    • To motivate facility based delivery among antenatal mothers to decrease IMR & MMR
    • To meet their expenses for their nutrition
    • To motivate adoption of Family Planning methods
    • To prevent children from vaccine preventable diseases through routine immunization

Benefit details

    • Provision of Cash Benefit (Rs.14,000 in 5 installments) and kind benefit (2 Nutrition kit worth Rs. 4000/-) to mothers who satisfy the conditions
    • Primi Mothers will be benefited under PMMVY Scheme.
    • Non Primi Mothers will benefit under Dr. MRMBS

Phone Number, aadhar of Mother and Husband, Proof for age, aadhar seeded Bank account. RCH number given by VHN or by self registration

Kannoli Kapom Thittam – KKT

AIM

To correct refractive error for students

Beneficiary: School Students from 6th std to 12th std of Govt. and Govt. aided schools will be screened and spectacles will be supplied to students with refractive error

Kalaignarin Varum Mun Kappom Thittam  – KVKT

AIM

To conduct specialty Medical camps in remote village for early identification of vulnerable diseases through specialists from GH and Empanelled Hospitals.
Specialty- General Medicine, Ortho, OG, Eye, Paediatric, Dermatology, TB, Leprosy, Ayush, Dental, Surgery Provision of Lab services, ECG, SCAN

Beneficiary: General Public of that village & near by villages

Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakaram – RBSK

AIM

    • Early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years to cover 4 ‘D’s viz, Defects at birth, Deficiencies, Diseases, Development delays including disability.
    • To improve survival outcomes by decreasing morbidity and improving the quality of life of our children.
    • District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) at GH will proceed with management and intervention.

Civil Registration System

AIM

To register all Births Deaths and Still Births and to ensure 100% registration

Benefit: All Birth and Death certificates can be downloaded free of cost from crstn.org web portal from 1.1.2018.

      • Birth certificate without name is invalid.
      • Hence name registration should be done with the consent of the parents within 1 year.
      • Registrar General India has given time relaxation to register name of child and get birth certificate upto 31/12/2024 for Births registered earlier to 1.1.2000 and birth registrations which crossed 15 years. Later that it will not be permitted.
